Don't tell my mom and my mother-in-law that we tried this (fugu fish sashimi). They would have a heart attack!!! Fugu is often known as pufferfish/blowfish. It can be lethally poisonous due to its tetrodotoxin. It can lead to accidental death if not prepare correctly. The restaurant preparation of fugu is strictly controlled by law in Japan and only chefs who have qualified after three or more years of rigorous training are allowed to prepare the fish by removing its toxins. If you ever want to try it, Japan is your safest bet.
