縞鯵と水茄子 Shima-aji and mizunasu (water eggplant) - shima-aji sashimi was nice but the water eggplants were outstanding! It is eggplant season in the summer and it's another default item on Japanese menu this time of the year. And to me Japanese eggplants are truly magnificent and perhaps underrated among foreigners compared to other veggies. There are many kinds but most of them were sooooo juicy and fiberless. The juice with its subtle sweetness can work as a sauce, like the grilled eggplant with uni at Sato in Kyushu that I just had last week (#littlemeg_sato) 鶉の山椒焼き Grilled Quails with Sansho. Again the quails were good but not to ignore are those vegetables that go with it. Especially those imos! by little_meg_siu_meg http://ift.tt/1BJxIjH
